A wonderfully exuberant Italian art-glass vase, formed in clear glass with ribbons of saturated orange sweeping around the body and into its dramatic, freeform rim.
I love the way this piece changes depending on where you place it. In direct light, the orange ribbons throw color and shadow across the table; from across a room, the sculptural silhouette is almost as compelling as the glass itself. The irregular folded rim gives it movement from every angle.
Beautiful filled loosely with flowers or branches, but I might like it even more completely empty, sitting on a stack of books, a console, or in the middle of a table as a piece of sculpture.
It has exactly the quality I look for in a design accssory: something joyful, slightly unexpected, and interesting enough to become the object everyone asks about.
