This painting came from a moment in the studio when I was allowing myself to explore outside of my usual rhythm. Still life is not a subject I return to often, but the simplicity of the composition, a small vase of yellow flowers and a cluster of bananas set against deep, moody fields of color, felt unexpectedly compelling.
The palette became the guide. Rich greens, charcoal tones, and warm ochres create a quiet stage where the bright yellow forms almost glow. The composition is simple but intentional, allowing each object to hold its own presence within the space.
Painted as an exercise in curiosity, this work became a reminder of the importance of staying exploratory in the studio, following instinct, allowing unexpected subjects to appear, and letting color lead the way.
