I purchased Onboard I directly from Bowen Teuscher when he exhibited at the gallery in 2024. As Michael and I settle into a new home, it feels like the right moment to let a few pieces from our personal collection begin new stories elsewhere.

Bowen's work occupies a fascinating intersection of contemporary printmaking, maritime history, and skate culture. Using meticulously carved linoleum blocks, he creates remarkably detailed portraits of classic wooden sailing vessels before printing them onto skateboard decks in limited editions.

Inspired by historic yachts from around the world, each composition celebrates craftsmanship in every sense, from the construction of the boats themselves to the hand-carved printmaking process. The skateboard becomes more than its original function; it transforms into a sculptural canvas that feels equally at home in a coastal library, a modern interior, or alongside a serious collection of contemporary prints.

This edition has lived in my collection since it was created and remains one of my favorite examples of functional object meeting fine art.
