Description

Pink Flowers on Purple carries the feeling of abstracted florals, layered, gestural, and unfolding across a vertical field. Large passages of vibrant pink move confidently over a textured ground of deep violet, cobalt, and soft blue, creating a composition that feels both bold and unexpectedly delicate.

I rarely allow this color combination to exist in its fullest intensity. My original intention was to soften the purple and quiet the palette, but somewhere along the way the painting took over. Rather than resisting it, I followed where it wanted to go, allowing the colors to become more saturated, more joyful, and more unapologetic.

Working on this elongated canvas encouraged a different kind of movement. The forms stack, overlap, and bloom naturally, creating a rhythm that feels effortless while holding a quiet sense of confidence. It is a painting about permission, allowing color to speak freely, allowing instinct to lead, and allowing beauty to occupy space without apology.
