This work emerged from my ongoing Confetti series, where color, repetition, and rhythm build a sense of movement across the canvas. In this piece, I began experimenting with dimensional elements, introducing layered paper forms that push the surface outward and create sculptural moments within the composition.
The textured forms interrupt the field of painted marks like small islands, giving the work a physical presence that shifts with light and shadow. The result sits somewhere between painting and relief, expanding the language of the Confetti series into something more tactile and architectural.
Several works from this experimental group quickly found homes, making this the last remaining piece from the series. It captures a moment of transition in my studio practice, when the familiar rhythm of the Confetti paintings began to open into new dimensional possibilities.
