As an exploration of color and space, I have found myself experimenting with color-blocking in my work. I see these as a hyper focused, magnified iteration of my Confetti Series, as if this is what you might find if you put a Confetti painting under a microscope. When painting this piece in our kitchen, I kept seeing a cityscape or skyline until Michael walked in and declared “I like this one! Money, it’s called MONEY” and kept on with his day. He has been known to title a few of my works with these impromptu outbursts of excitement and this one just felt right.
