Description

One of the earliest paintings from my On Holiday series, this work marks the beginning of an idea that would eventually become an entire body of work centered around travel, memory, and the places that quietly shape us.

Rather than depicting a specific destination, On Holiday, Waves pieces together the feeling of being somewhere beautiful. Waves, architecture, sunshine, clouds, and glimpses of imagined landscapes drift across the surface like postcards layered over one another. It feels less like a place than a collection of moments remembered after returning home.

Looking back, I can see many of the visual ideas that continue to appear throughout my work today. The optimism, the simplified forms, the influence of coastal architecture, and the desire to paint not just what a place looks like, but how it feels.

For collectors who have followed the evolution of my work, this painting offers a glimpse into where the On Holiday story first began.
