Untitled Flowers VII
By Ricky Burrows
28"H x 22"W Framed
Mixed media on paper
I’ve been collecting the work of Ricky Burrows for many years, long before his paintings began selling out in New York galleries. Watching his rise has been a joy, his determination and clarity of vision have always been unmistakable.
I’ve always gravitated toward Burrows’ works on paper. At first glance they carry the charm of playful, almost childlike drawings, but there is a deeper language at work beneath their simplicity. His lines are deliberate, confident, and full of character, each mark holding the quiet intelligence that defines his practice.
This piece reflects a part of Burrows’ world that feels both intimate and enduring. The visible studio marks and gentle wear on the paper remain intentionally untouched. Rather than hiding the life of the work, they document it, traces of the artist’s studio and the process itself.
As Burrows’ painting career continues to flourish, these early works on paper feel increasingly special: small windows into the language and imagination that have always been at the core of his work.
