Description

I've admired Martha Savage's work for years, particularly her ability to translate landscapes into bold geometric compositions viewed from above. Her paintings feel somewhere between maps, architecture, and memory, reducing familiar places to color, rhythm, and form.

This painting, Venice, became part of my personal collection long before I ever visited the city. It hung in my home for years, and now, after many trips to Venice, I find myself looking at it differently. What once felt like an imagined place has become deeply familiar.

Whether coincidence or intuition, I love that this painting entered my life before the experiences that would eventually give it meaning. It has quietly accompanied that journey ever since. As we prepare for a new home, it feels like the right time for this piece to continue its own journey with another collector. Perhaps someone wishing Venice was in their near future.
