Sunday Night Digest 08/24/25

Sunday Night Digest 08/24/25

Digest = me + a possible glass of wine + reflection the previous weeks ongoings and a glimpse into future happenings. You're Welcome.

August sun, an island enchantment here in Newport. Last weekend we attended the Preservation Society dinner at The Breakers and it was a summer eve to remember. I’d love to say we went out dancing in the early hours of the morning afterwards, but we returned home to Sofia and Mabel and had a lovely late night chat in the garden. Pizza may have been ordered!

The Summer Wind Auction is wrapping up - Wow friends! What an incredibly time around this time. An enormous thank you to my friend and co-conspirator, Brendan Dyer: your charm, wit and willingness to make my wild ideas come to life in a full stage performance was the perfect way to start a magical evening turned fun and lively week long event. Bravo!!

I have some sincerely exciting news to share! My most requested workshop is now available and you’re getting the first look! The Painting Room is my new online offer that I've been dreaming up for months… maybe years?! After countless conversations in the gallery about my process and technique, and meeting so many creative curious, I'm finally bringing that experience to you, wherever you are. Think of it as part studio session, part creative therapy, all infused with the same energy you feel when you visit the gallery in person. Whether you're a seasoned painter or haven't picked up a brush since childhood, this space is for you. The workshop launches September 30, but I’m sharing special pricing with you if you want to check it out with code STUDIO20.

This last week flew by in a whirlwind of color and creativity. I've been balancing time in the studio with lazy afternoon swims, trying to soak up these last precious moments of Newport summer before the season shifts. The gallery has been glowing with new work, including several pieces I completed during those quiet morning hours when the light streams through just perfectly. I'll send a note this week when they're up online.

I hosted an impromptu dinner party with some dear friends visiting. We gathered around the table until well past midnight, sharing stories over local seafood and more than a few bottles of wine. There's something about these casual, last-minute gatherings that often becomes the most memorable. The table setting was simple but intentional, just how I like it on these evenings. If you’re thinking of hosting your own, do not miss out on The Dinner Party Download for September which is filled with delicious ideas and entertaining anecdotes.

Looking ahead to fall, I'm working on something special for the gallery, a show that celebrates the transition from summer's vibrant energy to autumn's more contemplative mood and perhaps even a bit of mystery. More details coming soon, but if you've been eyeing anything from the summer collection, now's the time. Many pieces have found their forever homes this month with our auction and there’s just a few left that will make their way to storage in a couple of short weeks.

I'm off to enjoy this golden Sunday evening, a beach walk with the dogs, a few moments in the studio, followed by dinner in the garden while these warm nights last.
Live your most extraordinary life as soon as possible.

Happy weekend from our family to yours! XO Kristen

If you’re enjoying these notes, I’d love for you to share them. Forward this to a friend who might like to follow along. Expanding this circle through friends of friends is my favorite kind of growth.
